I have always been spiritual. I have always believed in magic.

I remember as a small child, either 5 or 6, I went on a school trip. At the end of the trip, we went to the gift shop. Whilst everyone else bought keyrings and bookmarks, I walked over and pick up a crystal. It was pink and rough. It has always sat in my bedroom, on a shelf, ever since. What I didn't realise, until almost 20 years later, was that it was Rose Quartz. A stone of self-love, confidence and universal, unconditional love.

As a teen, my mother had a reading from a local woman who told her things she didn't even know herself about her close relatives. This always fascinated me.

As I got older, I came out of an extremely abusive relationship. This left me completely discombobulated and at rock bottom. I did the same as many others do at that time, I went to Spirit for reassurance I wouldn't always be alone. I had a tarot reading. During the reading, I was told that I would meet my soul mate at the end of March, they had dark hair and blue eyes, and I already knew them. With that, I decided to reconnect with friends (as while in the abusive relationship we had moved away), I went out and decided to have some fun and enjoy being single.

While out and about, I kept bumping into an ex, who had dark hair and blue eyes and he kept flirting. I wasn't interested. I just wanted to go have fun.

March came and went this person hadn't showed. So, on 2nd April, I decided to get a tattoo. I went into town that evening and saw the abusive ex, showed him the tattoo. That was the last interaction I ever had with him. Later that evening, my very first proper boyfriend, Terry, was in the same bar and saw the abusive ex, who said "Kay's out tonight, she's got a new tattoo or something".

I was out dancing with my friends, sat at a table and saw a lad I knew through my abusive ex, Alex. I debated going over, but I'd been made out to be some crazy person from the ex. I looked back up and there was Terry. Alex was a mutual friend of him and the abusive ex, and they were out together.

I threw my bag at my friend and went over to say hi to Terry. In my head I said "If I let him kiss me, I'll be stuck with him for ages". I managed to fend him off all night, until I got in the taxi home, and he snuck a kiss in. We've been together ever since. 16 years, 10 years of marriage, a whole lot of moving around and 3 kids later, we're still together. And Alex - he was our best man and our eldest's Godfather.

Yes, he was 2 days after the end of March, but that reading blew my mind. I decided "I want to do that!" So, I bought a Tarot deck. 2 actually. If you know me this won't surprise you. And decided to learn about it. 

About 4 or 5 years ago, I had a big mental breakdown. I had a clinical hypnotherapist come and work with me. Alongside this, I felt disconnected to my deck. So I had a look at Tarot Decks and one stood out for me - The Wild Unknown. ( As a side note, I would not recommend this as a beginner deck). It was dark and harsh black and white with interjections of rainbow through it. It felt like it reflected where I was. I then deep dove into daily practice with it.

While working with my hypnotherapist, we were moving house. Using the cards, I read who would buy our house and how much for. I was right, on both.

Just before we moved, I had my last session with Kaja. She never once told me what to do or offer advice on what I should do in the whole time. As she hugged me goodbye, she said "You're meant to be a Tarot reader you know. That's your calling"

I still continued to read for myself. I started doing free readings for others trying to gain confidence. They were always blown away. I always appreciate negative feedback where it hasn't resonated, otherwise how will I know where I went wrong and learn from it?

In January 2021, I had a reading and the reader told me I need to start charging for my Tarot readings. I'm more than good enough and have enough knowledge and experience to do it, even years ago.

And so, here we are. Magpie Moonchild offers Tarot readings you can book. 

I read in a way that tells you what you need to know, not necessarily what you want to know. I'm not 100% because no reader is, but I have a good degree of accuracy. You can find my social media pages (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) to get a feel for my energy and whether you resonate with my style, as finding a reader you are comfortable with is SO important. You're allowing us the honour of stepping into your energy, you should only allow someone you trust to do that.
